On July 3rd and 4th, the XXXVIII Convocation of the RnS with Pope Francis, will take place in Rome and it will be attended by thousands in St. Peter’s Square (July 3) and at the Olympic Stadium (July 4).

“Ways of unity and of peace – Voices in prayer for the martyrs of today and for a spiritual ecumenism” is an extraordinary and original initiative scheduled to take place in St. Peter’s Square on July 3 at 4 p.m. and with this we will begin two days of prayer, spirituality and evangelization promoted by Renewal in the Spirit of Italy. The event will be conducted by Francesca Fialdini  in which some famous international artists will participate: Andrea Bocelli and Noa, as well as singers and worship leaders like Don Moen from the USA and Darlene Zschech from Australia. It will be a “Concert in prayer” which – according to the intentions of Pope Francis – will draw the attention of public opinion to the great drama of religious persecution and the need to practice a “spiritual ecumenism” which represents a way of unity and of peace among the peoples, in reply to the cause of ecumenism of the blood (of martyrs) evoked by Pope Francis.

The presence of Card. Leonardo Sandri, Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, Card. Kurt Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of Unity of Christians, Card. Angelo Bagnasco, President of the Bishops’ Conference of Italy, Bishop Boutros Marayati, Armenian Catholic bishop of Aleppo, Archbishop David Moxn, representative of the Archbishop of Canterbury to the Holy See, Bishop Jonas Jonson, Lutheran bishop of Strängnäs (Sweden), dr. Louie Giglio, non-denominational Pastor of the Passion City Church of Atlanta, together with Orthodox and Pentecostal delegates in the heart of Christianity, will witness the power of ecumenical prayer and the necessity of a new fraternity among Christians. It is the first time a similar ecumenical event is being proposed in St. Peter’s Square.

Pope Francis will arrive in the Square at 6.00 p.m. and will complete the ecumenical gesture offered by RnS and which prepares the Special Audience to the Movement, one year after the extraordinary visit of the Pope to the Olympic Stadium, on occasion of the traditional annual Convocation.

The XXXVIII Convocation of the RnS will continue on July 4 at the Rome Olympic Stadium. Praise, worship and adoration on the theme: “People of God proclaim His wonderful deeds!!” (cf 1 Pt 2,9).
